Oyster Holdings: Your Uniform for Summer Travel
Picture this: You have a 15-hour flight from LAX to HKG, and need to attend a meeting as soon as you touchdown in Hong Kong. Because you value comfort while traveling, you opt out of a business suit that’d probably end up with wrinkles anyway. Trouble is, you won’t have much time to slip into a more stylish ensemble before the meeting, especially if there are delays or traffic. Don’t fret if you’ve had this problem; Oyster Holdings is your solution.
Steadily gaining altitude since 2014, Woodie White launched his own luxury sportswear label, Oyster Holdings, with a mission to offer travelers clothing that is comfortable for travel, but also suitable for a business-casual atmosphere. During his flights for work as LRG brand manager, he observed the people who were sitting with him and what they were wearing: the frequent flyers and businesspeople in first class wore suits; and the students, families, and athletes in economy wore sweats. By bridging the gap between these two types of travelers, Woodie White aims to change the conversation of what sportswear can — and should — be. Since then, Oyster Holdings has collaborated with the likes of adidas.
Known to source most of their fabric from Japan, the brand primarily goes for premium French terry. They also use Italian hardware like tried-and-true Lampo zippers, which are commonly found on luxury handbags from Chanel, Balenciaga, and Prada. Finally, it’s all brought together with production taking place in the USA.
For this season’s collection, Oyster Holdings remains loyal to their usual dusty neutrals and soft hues, but adds some flare with green, orange, and blue. Essential elements include thick chenille appliqué lettering, and tricolore and rainbow jersey-esque ribbon detailing.
If you dig the designs and have plans to hit the runway this season, you can pick up pieces from the collection at select JUICE stores and here at CLOT.com.
