Artistic Director Kim Jones To Exit Louis Vuitton

The London-born designer, Kim Jones is to exit Louis Vuitton after showing his last collection this Thursday in Paris. It's speculated that he may be heading to Burberry according to Business of Fashion. Jones has been the men's artistic director for flagship brand LVMH Moët Hennessy's Louis Vuitton since 2011.

Graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2002, John Galliano had bought his collection, followed by his launch of his namesake label at London Fashion Week in 2003. Jones then decided to close his business to become the creative director at British luxury brand Alfred Dunhill in 2008. Louis Vuitton took Jones under their global fashion powerhouse to design their men's collections.

Louis Vuitton's men's division has grown in relevance in fashion and culture thanks to Jones' unique influences from street wear and luxury. Turning heads in high fashion and street wear was one of the biggest collaborations last year - Louis Vuitton x Supreme's Autumn/Winter 2017 collection. Despite having no formal experience in designing womenswear, Jones' ability to take Louis Vuitton to a relatable level in modern culture is understandably attractive to a company like Burberry. The strength in Burberry's digital sphere has not matched its delivery of product in recent years. Yet, who's to say that isn't changing, given their most recent collaboration with Gosha Rubchinskiy. Perhaps there'll be more exciting fashion moves from Burberry coming up in 2018 if Jones joins the British fashion house.
